Pat Walrath, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at her home.  Services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will be Friday, March 6th, from 4-6 pm, at the Chapel of Memories Stateroom.  Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pat is survived by her son, Steve (Karen) Walrath; daughters Linda (Rich) Dean and Bonnie Graf; grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Schlichting, Benjamin (Ashton) Graf, Melanie (Chad) Smith, Spencer (EmilyAnn) Walrath, Rachel Dean and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, sister Jackie and brother John.

Pat was born September 22, 1932, in Cedar Rapids to R. Dale and Dorothy McMickle.  She graduated from Bayside High School in New York where she was active in basketball, volleyball, softball and swimming. She attended the University of Iowa.  She married Leonard in 1956. In 1970 she started working at McDonald’s over the lunch hour while her kids were in school.  She went on to work for the local McDonald’s franchise in the office as an Administrative Assistant, finally retiring after 50 years in 2021.

Pat enjoyed many sports, including playing volleyball weekly until the age of 88.  She was a Hawkeye fan, loved all kinds of animals and was an avid gardener.  She had a knack for finish carpentry work and owned more tools than the rest of the family combined.  She never met a garage sale she didn’t like and for years, would travel to Bonnie’s home in Missouri to shop the citywide garage sales.  One of her favorite things in life was sweets, often complaining when we brought her dark chocolates but never allowing us to take them back.

Pat attended Creekside Bible Church up until her move in 2021 into The Keystones of Cedar Rapids. There she made many friends, participated in water and chair aerobics, water volleyball and many other activities.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society in Pat’s name.
