Olmar Demar Enget, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, located at 640 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00 PM.

Demar was born April 30th, 1933, in Powers Lake, North Dakota son of Olmar and Dora (Johnson) Enget. He grew up in Battleview, North Dakota, where he worked on the family farm and oil fields nearby. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1955 and later transferred to the reserves in 1956.

He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and successfully completed the Electronics Training course. Demar was employed by Collins Radio Company, (later Rockwell Collins) in 1959 where he worked as a Test Technician and later Quality Engineer and retired in 2000.

On July 2, 1963, Demar married Shirley Trpkosh in the Black Hills of South Dakota. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later moved to a small farm in Fairfax where they raised their children and spent many wonderful years with their grandchildren. He took pride in running a hog operation while also working. After retirement, he started a vending business where he enjoyed filing his vending machines and caring for the farm. You could always find him outside splitting wood and filling the wood furnace to keep him busy. He believed staying busy kept you young.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family, having his grandchildren enjoy the farm, and vacation trips.

Demar was a dedicated member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Cedar Rapids where he served as President of the Board and various other roles serving the congregation that he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Kurt (Allison) Enget, Tamara (Mike) Smejkal; three grandsons, Michael (Ashlee) Koopman, Shane Koopman, and Brennan (Sadie) Koopman; great granddaughter, Kaylor Koopman.

Demar is preceded in death by his parents, Olmar and Dora Enget, and his siblings, Dolores Watterud, and Dennis Enget.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will greatly be missed by all that knew him.
