Memorial

Leonard Lawrence Nutt, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 26, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A memorial service will follow the visitation and begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Leonard was born March 9, 1940, to Lawrence and Garvene (Prichard) Nutt in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1958. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Leonard married Colleen Walters on August 25, 1979, in Blairstown, Iowa. He gave over 28 years of service to Farmstead Foods, formerly Wilson’s. 

He enjoyed traveling and experiencing many different foods and drinks along the way. Leonard also enjoyed watching sports, especially college sports where he rarely missed a game. He loved his family and enjoyed the time they spent together. 

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Nutt; children, Cindy Nutt, Shelly Kirchmann, Janel Lutz, Melanie (Trent) Norden, and Shawn (Jade) Nutt; grandchildren, Trent Norden Jr., Mckenzie Lutz, Hunter Rinderknecht, Ethan Norden, Ayden Lutz, Joseph Lutz, Eden Lutz, Andi Nutt, and Charli Nutt; and his sister, Leota Shayer; along with several nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Alyce Ballard and Delores Ruiz
