Bobbi Ann Hajek was born June 21, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, surrounded by family, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Anna Neff; her brothers, Edward Neff and Terrance Neff; her sister, Delores Christiansen; and her nephew, John Neff.

Bobbi married the love of her life, David Hajek, on September 1, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. Her home was rarely quiet, it was filled with family, friends, and a fair share of shenanigans. Nobody ever left Bobbi’s house hungry. She was quick to put dinner on the table for anyone who stopped by, and just as quick with advice for anyone who needed it.

Bobbi graduated from Regis High School and earned her associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Kirkwood Community College. She worked as a dental hygienist, then as a bookkeeper at Barlow’s and Randall’s while her girls were in elementary school. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for her father at Neff Metal Products, where she also helped care for her parents. After caring for her parents, she found enjoyment working as a property manager at Go America.

Bobbi was tough as nails. As a teenager, she survived a car accident that left her with 17 broken bones and eight months in a full body cast, and she carried that same toughness with her the rest of her life.

She was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, attending both Saint Matthews and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton churches over the years. She loved a good book, cheering on her kids at every sporting event, and watching Iowa football and basketball, and the Indiana Fever.

Bobbi is survived by her husband, David Hajek; her brother, Allen Neff (Deb); her three daughters and their husbands, Danyel and Rick Harris, Dawn and Tom Buckheister, and Kara and Brandon Gustafson; and her 7 grandchildren, Walker and Ryan Harris, Slader and Chase Buckheister, and Kennedy, Kingsley, and Kherington Gustafson.

Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom on Sunday, August 2, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm with a rosary starting at 3:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Monday, August 3, at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in appreciation of the compassionate care they provided to Bobbi.
