Elie Elossais, 76, of Cedar Rapids went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2025.
Visitation will take place at St. George Orthodox Church on October 22, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. George Orthodox Church on October 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with burial at St. George Cemetery and mercy meal to follow.
Elie was born in Ain Arab, Lebanon on August 4, 1949, to Kareme and Jerjes Elossais. He immigrated to the United States in 1985. He worked alongside his brother Mikhael Elossais at Mikhael’s Restaurant until his retirement in 2013.
In his retirement, he began his day at 7:00 a.m. to check on the restaurant, spending time with family, especially his children, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and granddaughters who he loved with all his heart. He would not end his day without hearing from each of his kids. Elie was a devout Orthodox Christian and led by example, showing all the love of Christ through his words and actions.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Salwa Bunch, Suade Elossais; brother Mikhael Elossais, brothers-in-law, Michael Kacere, and Richard Laham, as well as his nephew Ricky Laham.
His memory is cherished by his wife, Afifi Elossais, children Sonia, George (Maria), Miriam, sisters Ensaf Kacere and Sonia Laham, and in-laws Debby Elossais and David Bunch, granddaughters Sophia and Mila Elossais, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to St. George Church in Cedar Rapids, or St. Thomas Church in Ain Arab, Lebanon.
