Roger David Mart of Hiawatha Ia.  Roger passed away on Friday November 21, 2025. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 26, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial: Private at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Roger the son of Ruth and Wallace Mart was born on June 15, 1933, in Irene, South Dakota.  The family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1936. Roger attended school at Immaculate Conception School. They returned to Wells Minnesota, where he graduated from Wells High School in 1951.  After school he worked part time at a dry cleaners, a grocery store, and a man’s clothing store. 

Roger and Irene Bias were united in marriage September 12, 1955, in Wells, Minnesota. The couple had 4 children, James, Tammy, Cathleen, and David.  Roger and Irene were divorced in 1979. Roger and family moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1955. Roger worked as a salesman at Newman’s Department Store for a short period of time. He was employed by Collins Radio Company in 1955.  He was selected to run some temporary operations at the Dallas Texas, Newport Beach, California and Nome, Alaska   locations and flew in the Collin’s Radio plane to these locations. He was very proud when Arthur Collins called him to work on a special project with him.  During this period, he had the opportunity to teach a system 34 class at Kirkwood College.

 In 1973, He accepted a position as a systems Analyst at St. Luke’s Hospital.  He modified and rewrote all the systems software for all of the departments including the Personnel and Payroll department. Roger retired in 1996 from St Luke’s Hospital with the title of the “Director of Data Processing Department.”  He was given a Special   “Certificate of achievement” by the management of St. Luke’s Hospital which he proudly displays in his office at home. Roger flew to several places for Health Conferences including Orlando Florida, Palm Beach California 2 times, Phoenix Arizona 2 times, Seattle Washington 1 time, Ontario Canada 1 time.

Roger married Mary L. Seehusen on May 25 ,1985. In Clearwater, Fl.  Mary had two children from a previous marriage, Mike and Stephanie. 

Roger had a great love for music, especially Jazz. In his early days he liked to fish and hunt. He collected coins, stamps, and elephants.  His last adventure was playing cards. Roger and Mary spent many happy times with family and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wallace and Ruth Mart, Aunt Velma Moher and her husband, Paul Moher, an uncle, James Rogers and his wife Margaret Rogers. 

He is survived by his wife Mary, children James Mart, wife Mari Davis and Tammy Veglahn, Husband James of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cathleen Porter, Husband Don of Dallas Texas, and David Mart, wife Jen of Palo, Iowa.  He had two Stepchildren, Mi-chael, wife Dawn Seehusen of Anamosa, Ia., Stephanie husband Ron Cross of Keizer, Oregon. Three Grandchildren, Makenna Eden, husband BJ of Tiffin IA , Ryan Mart, of Cedar Rapids Ia. Cassandra Veglahn, Cedar Rapids, IA. Four Step grandchil-dren Austin Seehusen, wife Jasmine, Dubuque IA, Zach Seehusen, Hiawatha, IA, Walker Seehusen, Anamosa, IA, and Stephanie Greeff, husband Nicholas, of Colora-do Springs, CO. Three great grandchildren Shea, Violet, & Malcolm. Two step-great grandchildren, Alexa and Kylie.

He greatly appreciated all the friends he met along his journey of life, during his employment of at Collins Radio, and St. Luke’s Hospital.
