Betty Shafer

Born on Oct 4, 1929
Departed on Nov 2, 2025

We are so sorry to hear of our dear friend passing! Our sympathies to all of Betty’s “kids”. We first met in 1987 when we moved to Coralville Lake Manor, right next door to Chuck and Betty. We remained close friend-neighbors for 28 years, and remain forever friends. Our lives were very connected, every day, through our pets, (their dog Samantha) food exchanges, favors back and forth, and long conversations (with Betty especially). I’ve heard lots and lots of stories, about every one of you! We did back and forth Christmas gatherings for many years. So many memories of good times together. Betty loved to shop! A favorite memory of ours is of watching Betty out in her little front garden planting her flowers, wearing fancy Talbot outfits! (With not a hair out of place) Another time she shared advice that I should always lie to Steve by taking off price tags and reducing the price of all purchased items when showing the guys. We laughed and laughed when she lied about the price of an Ethan Allen wall mirror (by $100) when telling Chuck how much it cost. And he was still appalled at the cost! Haha We just can’t express enough what great neighbors and friends they were! We’ve missed them like crazy since they moved and our visiting was limited. Our sympathy to you all! Love, Char and Steve Baker

Many fond memories of life and love at the Shafer house during the 60's. Condolences to Debbie, Mike, Scott and family. Rest in peace Mrs. Shafer.

I retired from Mercy after 29 years. Betty was the sweetest person, so pleasant and helpful. The smile in her picture is exactly how I remember her, a little mischievous but always wiling to help you. My condolences to her family
