Cliff was great friend and there is not enough room on this page for me to tell you about our friendship. So Rest in Peace good friend until we meet again,

My first grandfather passed away when I was one, and the second when I was 13. Due to family circumstances, I was never close to him. Cliff was our neighbor when I was ages 7-15. We always considered each other neighbors even when we moved to another home. He was the closest thing I’ve ever had to a grandpa. I will always remember root beer floats on his back patio, movie nights with microwave popcorn, and hot tub summer days with his grandkids as some of my favorite childhood memories. When you become an adult, the root beer floats become spiked egg nog at the holidays and the movie nights turn into visits where you’d sit on his living room couch and tell him about your boyfriend who happened to come back to Iowa with you, and then your engagement, and then your marriage and your pregnancy. And the faded Thanksgiving turkey wooden decoration that one of your little siblings painted for him a decade before still hangs on his door, and he still greets you with “Hey, neighbor!” and still says goodbye with “soooo long”. So: so long, neighbor, until God willing we meet again in a far better place than this. ♥️ I will miss you always, you’re in my prayers, and you’re in my heart.

I had the pleasure of meeting Butch through some mutual friends when one of them decided to flip a house. He was helping them out and always threaten to burn that little house down because the work it needed. He always joked around that I was able to sell an ice cube to an Eskimo. He loved to entertain friends for coffee at his house. Butch loved his gadgets. I loved his touchless faucet so much that I had one installed at my home. Butch was well know to his friends of his big heart and always lending out a hand and he has all the tools. I will miss his jokes, laughs, and smiles. May he rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
