Memorial

Delwin Charles Schons, 96, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Emery Place. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service and take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Delwin was born December 27, 1928, to Leo and Charlotte (Decker) Schons in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1946. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Patricia Thielges on July 24, 1954, in Mankato. Together they had three children.  She passed away January 31, 1998. He later married Anita Pesek on September 25, 1999, in Marion, Iowa. He gave over 37 years of service to Rockwell Collins before retiring in December of 1986. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He was also a member of the American Legion #298, VFW #788, the Elks Lodge, American Mensa, and Intertel. 

He enjoyed ballroom dancing and square dancing, fishing, playing cards, traveling, and flying his airplane. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. 

Delwin is survived by his children, Richard Schons, Carla (Micheal) Fishel, and Randal (Sherry) Schons; grandchildren, Anna (Josh Beyer) Fishel, Micheal (Sarah) Fishel, and Matthew (Stephanie) Fishel, Anthony (Anne) Schons,  Kevin Schons, and Jeffery Schons; great grandchildren Nate, Elizabeth, Hazel, Etta, Cora, Madison, and Arthur; Step daughter Connie Jirouch; brothers, Charles and Kerwin Schons; along with many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and most of his siblings.
