Memorial
Karen Beall, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on August 16, 2025. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Park State Room in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Pastor Matt German from Salem United Methodist Church officiating. Karen’s favorite color was blue, and the family has requested that you wear blue to the Visitation and Funeral Service.
Born April 13, 1938, to Glen Sr. & Caroline (Carney) Baker. Karen lived most of her life in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Waves. She was stationed at Hutchinson Naval Air Station. She later moved to Washington, D.C. to Bethesda Naval Medical Center, which is now Walter Reed Medical Center.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Karen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Center Point, Iowa where she was a Worthy Matron. She became a LPN after attending Kirkwood College Community College and later became an RN. Karen retired from Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She was an active member of the Amvets Post 6 in Cedar Rapids. She moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown in 2023.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glen Baker, her sister Dorothy Yanecek, and nephews John and Tom Yanecek.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Nancy) Beall and daughter, Tamara Beall-Thomas; grandchildren, Dan Beall, Debbi (Rikki) Darter-Martin, Mandy Beall, Caroline (Tim) Monnig, Michael Beall & Dr. Rana Suliman, Ryan (Ciara)Thomas, Chelsie (Lance) Kuehl, Josh (Jackie) Thomas, Ian Thomas; and nine great-grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Salem Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids or the Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
