Diane Marie (Davis) Taylor, 69 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died peacefully in her home on September 28, 2024. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

She was born on October 25, 1954, in Cedar Rapids to Josephine and Joseph Davis. She attended grade school at St. Ludmila Catholic School, finishing eighth grade at St. Jude’s. She graduated from LaSalle High School, where, in her sophomore year, she began dating Dennis Taylor, who would become her husband of fifty years and lifelong soulmate.

The couple married after graduation and moved to Karamursel, Turkey, where Dennis was stationed with the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his service, they returned to Cedar Rapids, where Diane worked for Square D Company. In 1981, they moved to Allen, Texas, where they lived for forty years, and where Diane found satisfaction in her work at Teledyne Geotech and Alcatel Lucent.

Their dreams came true the day Michael was born and completed their family. Diane cherished her role as his mother.

After retiring in 2019, Diane and Dennis spent much of their time camping with good friends. In 2021, Diane and Dennis returned to Cedar Rapids to be closer to Diane’s family. As the oldest daughter, Diane acted as a steadfast and loving anchor in the lives of her sisters and their families. She loved spending time with her sisters, and her nieces and nephews have many beautiful memories of time spent with Aunt Diane.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. She maintained a close circle of friends and family, whom she loved fully and without compromise.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Taylor; son, Michael (Molly Caruth) Taylor; sisters, Debbie (Steve) Mitchell, Donna Burkle, Doreen (Pat) O’Malley; half-sister, Billie Jo Davis; stepsister, Tammy (Freddie) Maneely; stepmother, Mary Davis, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Joseph Davis; her in-laws, Mary and Richard Taylor; and her stepbrother, Scott Hill.
