Carol Joy Brown, 91 died Sunday, October 20, 2024, at The Woodlands of Meth-Wick. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplin Rick Sparks officiating. Visitation will take place before the service and will be held from 1 — 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Carol was born December 23, 1932, to Albert and Bertha (Adams) Kleist in Waterloo, Iowa. She married Armond “Spike” Brown on February 14,1953. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Mount Mercy College in 1971 and taught elementary for 20 years at Wilkins, Linn Mar District, Marion, Iowa. She truly loved her students and would go above and beyond for them.

Carol's faith was extraordinary having been a Stephen Minister. She was a long-time member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed bible studies, bridge and scrabble. She loved spending time with her good friend Jane Fisher and before Jane died in 2019, she helped her with tasks when she could no longer do them. She and Spike spent many winters in south Texas with very good friends, Bev and Bill Shaffer. She dearly loved her friends and would keep in contact by phone and letters until she could no longer.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Norris-McDonald of Hutto, Texas, Pamela (Wes) Landon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Debora (William) Lake of Brooksville, Florida; sister, Janet Adams of Wheat Ridge Colorado. Carol had six grandchildren she loved very much and enjoyed every minute she had with them. They are Thomas (Erica) Landon, Walker Iowa. Kevin (Chantel) Landon of College Grove, Tennessee, Bradley Norris of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sara (Troy) Jennings of Denver, Colorado, Brianna (Ben) Walters of Bastrop, Texas, and Julie (Brian) Brady of Florissant, Colorado. She had eleven great grandchildren who are: Skyler (Crystal) Landon of Marion, Iowa, McKenna Landon of Marion, Iowa, Trevin Landon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Meredith and Nolan Landon of College Grove, Tennessee, Marley Norris of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Cooper and Sloan Jennings of Denver, Colorado, Brooke Walters of Bastrop, Texas, Matthew Peavy, of Colorado and Colton Peavy of Colorado; and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Spike; grandson, Steven Landon; brother Ronald Adams; son in law, Robert McDonald; her parents, and very dear aunt Myrtle DeGood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kenwood Park United Methodist Church or Meth- Wick Community.
