Memorial

Gary R. Baack, 80, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at Hiawatha Care Center.  Services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, 3:00 p.m., at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  The visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2024, 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.  Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, David (Janice) Baack of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Paul Baack, of Marion, Iowa, and one grandson, Ryan Baack, of Cedar Rapids.  

Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn, and parents, August and  Waiva Baack.

Gary worked at Kirkwood Community College for 21 years in Plant Services (Maintenance) as well as helping his father develop land and build homes in Iowa & Minnesota. He loved woodworking, going to NHRA drag races (and watching on TV), fishing locally, as well as in Minnesota & Canada.  

The family is especially grateful for the loving kindness and care provided by the staff members of Promise House and the Hiawatha Care Center.
