Memorial

Aziza (Betty) Igram, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, 2:00pm, at the Cedar Memorial Park Westside Chapel, led by Imam Hassan Selim. Burial immediately following at the Muslim National Cemetery. 

She was born in Quraoun, Lebanon on November 24, 1927 to Khalil and Sakeena Hamady Matt. Aziza came to the US at 9 years of age and resided in Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest of 5 siblings, Mariam (Hussien) Shousher, Jamile  (Kalid) Igram, Mohamed (Amira) Matt, Kalid Matt, Omar (Asma) Matt. 

She married Abdallah Igram in June of 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they had 4 children, Fatima Smejkal, Lila Thompson, Hassan Igram, Yusef Igram.  Aziza retired from Younkers after 35 years of retail service in 2014. She was a lifelong dedicated member of the Cedar Rapids Islamic Center. 

Aziza is survived by her children; brother-in-law, Mohamed (Sally) Igram; daughter-in-law, Samira Igram; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. 

She was preceded by her husband, Abdallah Igram; brother-in-law, Kalid Igram; son, Yusef Igram; and son-in-law, Roger Smejkal. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cedar Rapids Islamic Center.
