Memorial

Mary Christine Peck, 73, died Friday, February 16th at her home in Fairfax, Iowa, following a lengthy battle with cancer.  The visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 20th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 21st at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. 

Chris was born April 10, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Daniel and Mercedes (Palumbo) Pfiffner.  The oldest of seven children, she attended St. Jude grade school, LaSalle high school, and Kirkwood community college.  On May 27, 1972, she married Daniel J. Peck at St. Jude Catholic Church.  They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2022. 

Chris spent her early career working as a dental assistant, before leaving the profession to raise a family.  She would return, spending many years working for Dr. Berkhof before retiring from Drs. Tyler, Link & Barnes in 2014.   She was a charter member of St. Jude Church, serving throughout the years as a hospitality minister and volunteer.  In her retirement, Chris spent time traveling to Italy, France, and Greece.  She was an excellent cook, enjoyed spending time with friends, and would routinely organize family gatherings. 

Chris is survived by her husband Dan, Fairfax; sons Brian and Mark (Amber), Cedar Rapids; sister Cheryl (Doug) Hoover, Kimberling City, Missouri; brothers Kevin Pfiffner, San Clemente, California, Kraig Pfiffner, Anamosa, Iowa, David (Cindy) Pfiffner, Marion, Iowa, John (Ann) Pfiffner, Cedar Rapids, and Michael (Carolyn) Pfiffner, Brook Park, Ohio;  brother-in-law Frank (Judy) Peck; sisters-in-law Dorothy (Frank) Satariano , Brenda (Tom) Valenta, Judy Schafer, Barb (Mike) Lacy, Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and Mercy hospice.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Church, Linn Community Food Bank, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
