A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 30 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A private burial will be held later.

Jim was born on July 30, 1952, in Cedar Rapids to Robert and Gwendoline Greene. He was a 1972 graduate of Kennedy High School. On December 6, 2006, Jim and Tiffany married. He retired from the City of Marion in 2012 and was currently working as a custodian for Linn-Mar School District, primarily at Wilkins Elementary.

Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Saturday breakfast with his brother, Robert, dad, nephews and grandkids at Perkins or Village Inn were special. Coffee with Robert was another favorite pastime. He enjoyed being the Captain of the car while driving to vacation destinations, annual Door County adventures, scratch off lottery tickets, casino trips with friends, and his time with the school children while at work. Cheering for his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sporting events and watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs also kept Jim busy. He enjoyed time outdoors fishing and spending time in his garden.

Jim is survived by his wife, Tiffany; children, Erin (fiancé Bruce) Shoop and Jason (Cortney) Greene; grandchildren, Alex (Joe) Schmidt, Alyssa (Kelly) Baker, Allen Novak, Kylee Shoop, Kasen Shoop; great grandchildren, Brayden, Brecken, Lainey and Kennedy; siblings, Robert (Tricia), Dan, Mike (Linda); sister-in-law, Tia (Jeff); nephews, Jeremy, Nathan, Christopher, Michael; nieces, Dawn, Brooke, Christina, Tylee; and best friend, Flurry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Greene; nephew, Thomas; great nephew, Nicholas, and in-laws, DeWayne and Mary Dlouhy.

Jim’s family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and Hal-Mar Village for the wonderful care they showed him. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.cedarmemorial.com under Obituaries.
