Such a beautiful lady! The world will miss Sara Sorensen. We were so fortunate to have the pleasure of her company at several family gatherings. She absolutely lit up the room! Our most sincere condolences to the Weems family.

Such a wonderful, talented, and giving friend to all. She will be missed……

I am a long time friend of Sara with many memories. , especially getting Mary , lunches, winter sports at Harbourage and helping with many art shows. My prayers go out to the Weems family and Mary.

Sara was a wonderful artist with a vivacious spirit and outlook. I so appreciated her direct and curious nature and am grateful to have known her. She and my mom, Marion Jacobs, were both artists and friends who appreciated each other’s companionship and enjoyed their creative, joyful experience of life.

Mary and family—- So very sorry to learn of your loss of Sara—- Sara always had her beautiful smile and joyful outlook on life. Her creative, artistic vision were very inspiring. We “solved”many education problems sharing out teaching experiences… Hold your good memories close to your hearts… a lovely lady is at peace. Carol Olson

I vividly and most cheerfully recall being in Sara's third-grade class at Kenwood Elementary School during her first year there in the early 1950s. Decades later, I was happy to interview and photo her in that actual classroom when I served as the volunteer Webmaster for Kenwood School and created a fabulous online "alumni" portion loaded with memories. I remained in touch with her for many, many years through our various groups including Creative Artists, and also saw her often at Elmcrest Country Club. She was a fun person to know, and to her family I now send my sincerest condolences and kindest thoughts.

Sara was a wonderful woman! So full of energy and passion for everything that she did! I was involved with her with the American Cancer Society. My parents enjoyed meeting her and Al during the open houses at Christmas. My deepest sympathy to Mary and her entire family.

This is late, but I just found out that Sara passed. My condolences to her family. She was a great friend to my mother, Curran Rosser. I have two of her paintings in my house and have very fond memories of visiting Cedar Rapids and seeing Sara. She lived a long and full life!
