Justine was born on May 28, 1976, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Abigail Ruby and Alexus (Dakota Gaines) Omar; granddaughter, Aiyanna Gaines; a brother, Heath Omar; nephew, Holden Omar; her parents, Shirley (Joe) Jensen and Gary (Cindy Bathgate) Omar; her dog, Stella; and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family too numerous to list.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Richard and Evelyn Nunemaker, and Robert and Shirley Omar.

Justine attended Kennedy High School, graduating in 1994, and then earned an Associate of Arts from Kirkwood Community College.  Justine furthered her education at Mount Mercy University, where she achieved her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2022. Justine found her calling at Transamerica and was employed there for over 15 years. She enjoyed dancing, riding her bike, playing Bingo, spending time with her dog Stella, and trips to the casinos with her best friend Shakiba.

To Justine, family was everything, and her “family” far surpassed her biological family.  She had a magical ability to light up any room.  She brought so much love to everyone and everything she was a part of.  She loved to spoil her granddaughter and nephew. Justine’s greatest joy came from the three F’s: faith, family, and friends. She will be missed by too many people to count. Her love, kindness, smile, and positive attitude changed many lives for the better.

Justine’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the entire staff at Mercy Oncology, Mercy Hospital, and Hospice of Mercy for their caring support during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards the family.
