Ronnie Bob Cook, 77, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023. A visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, AT 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, by Pastor William King of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Ron was born Feb. 22, 1946, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Chester and Geraldine (Sorenson) Cook. He graduated from Spencer, Iowa High School in 1966.

Ron started his career working for the Cedar Rapids, IA school systems in 1968.  IN 1980 Ron went to work for Iowa National Insurance Company for 7 Years. He retired From Grant Wood Area Education Agency, Supt. of Building and Grounds in 2005 after 19 years of service.

Ron was married to Venita Louise Guthrie, they later divorced and remained friends.  He then met Cheryl Twachtmann and they married on June 6, 1992.

Ron was a past president and treasurer FOR Local 55 - AFL-CIO.  He was a past member of RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society).

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Ron was a lifelong Christian, and we will see him again when we meet in heaven.

Ron enjoyed life and was avid outdoorsman. He liked fishing, boating, hunting, grilling, and finding the elusive morel mushrooms. He was a certified scuba diver.

Ron enjoyed a wide variety of music, playing cards, cracking black walnuts, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. In Ron’s younger years he raced go-carts and won several trophies. Ron was a car enthusiast and had many different types of cars over the years.  He owned several classic cars. His latest cars were a yellow smart car and a 1931 Ford Model A. Ron had a great sense of humor, his stories brought joy and laughter to others throughout his life. 

We will miss his wonderful smile and kind heart. Ron was a good friend and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. 

Ron is survived by his wife Cheryl of 30 years, two brothers Larry Cook and his wife Kay from Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jerry Cook from Adel, IA, sister Bonnie Lambertus from Sioux Falls SD, sister-in-law Debora Cook from Spirit Lake, IA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chet Cook, Jr. and Dean Cook, and nephew Tommy Cook.
