Memorial

On March 18th, 2023, Dorothy Schuller’s name was called by her Savior to enter eternity with her husband John Jr. and family. She passed from earth surrounded by her family and those who cared for her at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, IA. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25th in the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA. The family will receive family and friends an hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Survivors include her sister Betty of Prairie du Chien, WI, Sons; Dennis (Becky) Schuller of Cedar Rapids, Larry (Bonnie) Schuller of Marion, Daughter; Julie (Scott) Keller of Olathe, KS; four grandchildren: Melanie Hansen, Matthew Schuller, Shelby Keller and Hannah Keller, as well as five great-grandchildren. Along with a special friend Lloyd Biederman of Prairie du Chien, WI. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, three brothers; Lewis, George and William along with two sisters; Eleanor and Katherine. 

Dorothy was born March 24th, 1932 in Mt. Ida Township, WI, and was the daughter of Will and Juanita (McGraw) Howell. She married John Schuller Jr. and they were together for 48 years. They later moved to Cedar Rapids, IA where they raised their children. Dorothy worked at Rockwell Collins for 32 years and retired in 1987.

God and God’s Word was important to Dorothy. She liked reading and learning about the scriptures and also listening to messages on TV and the radio. 

Dorothy loved playing cards with family and friends and enjoyed going dancing. She always looked forward to family gatherings whether it be holidays or birthdays or just getting together to talk, laugh and enjoy each other. She loved her family. Dorothy was a loving, caring and strong woman with a smile that would light up the room. There are no words to express how much she was loved. She was a wonderful mother and grandma and she will be deeply missed. 

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hiawatha Care Center and Dr. Nelson for following up with mom’s care and her needs. Your love and the direction you gave to the family was definitely helpful and appreciated.
