My heart aches for Linda, your kids, grandkids and everyone else who loved you. I wish we could have had more time to get to know you as neighbors. Rest in peace Dave. I will miss you driving by waving - Jenni Smith

David Buwalda Family, My name is Paul Scheiner! I live in Vinton, Iowa now, but I was a classmate of Davids at McKinley JR High in Cedar Rapids, and Dave and I became very good friends when we were 9th graders! Just so you know, he was probably the best friend I had in 9th grade at McKinley! We talked about things that we thought were important to us, and we used to eat lunch often at noon together down in the McKinley chow hall! I never knew that he went to High School in Marion at the same time I was over at Linn Mar!! I am so sorry that I didn't know that, or I would have looked him up and continued some of our wild hair things we did at McKinley!!! I so wish I knew what he was doing in those days because I would've contacted him as soon as I knew!!! It doesn't surprise me that he served his country in the Army, and served in Vietnam!!! I went in the Air Force and never was sent to Vietnam! So, he was the hero, not me!!! He is one of the people that I truly wish I had stayed in contact with, but- - - stuff happens! I married at 20 and my wife Judi, was 19, so I lost track of Dave, I just want to say that I've never had a better friend in school and I am so sorry that he has passed on!! He was a great friend of mine and it does not surprise me that he served his country so honorably! My heartfelt and genuine sorrow is out to you!! Take Care! Paul Scheiner
