Cynthia “Cindy” Yvonne Gulliver, 65, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Cindy is survived by her three children: Elizabeth (Aaron) Cornell of Marion, Jamie (Taylor) Barron of Marion, and Chad Barron of Denver, Colorado. She also is survived by her four grandchildren: Barron Cornell, Alyce Cornell, Logan Barron, and Brooks Barron; her sister Nancy Lenzen, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dale Gulliver, Marian Kerkau, and stepfather Vern Kerkau.

Cindy was born on November 10, 1957, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a graduate of MacArthur High School and attended college at Northwood Institute in Midland, Michigan, where she met her former husband, John Barron. They moved to Cedar Rapids and were blessed with three children.

Through the years Cindy worked in a variety of fields which included Stamats Communications, Aegon, Ellen’s of Course Boutique, Holiday Cove North in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and most recently at Skogman Realty.

Cindy had been a member of the Junior League of Cedar Rapids, and a member of New Directions, the fundraising board for the American Cancer Society. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival and at her children’s schools.

The greatest enjoyment of her life was her family. She was passionate about being a grandmother. Her four grandchildren meant everything to her and she was so happy to be active in their young lives after returning to Cedar Rapids. To Cindy, there was nothing better than being known as “Nana” and “Cici”!
