Kimberly “Kim” Lynn Smith, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in her home of a sudden illness. Funeral arrangements will be held at Veritas Church in Cedar Rapids with an open house from 4-6 PM and a service at 6 PM on Tuesday, January 24th.. We invite you to come celebrate her life and share in community.

Survivors include her son Jason Booth of Gatesville, Texas, son Wyatt Smith (Hannah) of Yulee, Florida, daughter Tess Hunting (Dan) of Gainesville, Florida, her fiancé Coy Garton, of Tipton, Iowa, and step-dad Clarence Zimmerman of Fremont, Nebraska along with her grandchildren and little Yorkie Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents Junior Dean Peterson and Marilyn Elaine Tessean and brother Kirk Peterson.

Kim was born December 2, 1959 in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1993 with her family, where she lived until her passing. In her career she used her skills of hospitality in various capacities including senior living communities, sales, and property management. She dedicated her life to serving and meeting the needs of others, getting excited about whatever endeavors others were involved in. We can confidently say when in the company of others, you would know when she was having a good time because her laugh tended to be one of the more prominent ones in the room. She loved spending time with her friends and her dog, being in warm weather and near water, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. While we are surprised by her passing, we are hopeful because she put her faith in Jesus and sought to live a life for Him.
