Claude is survived by his sons, Terry (Ruth) Oler and Randy (Dixie) Oler; grandchildren, Benjamin Oler, Robert Oler, Chase (Jessica) Oler, Curtis (Amber) Marolf, Tina (Jake) Farmer, Richard (Tina) Pierce, Robert Pierce, Roy (Desiree) Pierce and other grandchildren; great grandchildren, Everlyn Oler, Lily Marolf, Madison Marolf, Abbigail Farmer, Zakkary Farmer, and other great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlene Thurston, Keith Oler, Kenny Oler and Virginia Stout. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly, and parents, Robert, and Loretta Oler.

Claude was born on March 22, 1931, in the house he lived in for most of his life.  His parents were Robert and Loretta Oler.  Claude was delivered into this world by Pearl Stine (a midwife).  Pearl and her husband owned the farms that Claude’s parents were farming. Claude was named after Mrs. Stine’s husband and owner of the farms. Claude was the second child of Robert and Loretta Oler.  Claude was one of five children; he has two sisters and two brothers.

Claude married Beverly Jean Oler on New Year’s Eve of 1950.  Claude and Bev started a family the next year and had two sons, Terry and Randy.  Claude had numerous jobs before and after his children were born but missed the farm life.  After Claude saved enough money and the farms his father farmed became available to rent, he started a long farming career.  He was able to purchase the farms in 1971 and lived on and farmed all his life. His son, Terry joined him in farming along with Randy. Cattle and hogs along with grain farming provided plenty of work for everyone.  As Claude would always say, “You can’t have all your eggs in one basket”. A few years later, Randy pursued a career in the auto business and Terry continued to farm with his father.

Claude enjoyed playing cards and dancing with Bev.  Bev always said she could just ride along on top of his feet, and this made dancing so easy with Claude.  Claude enjoyed playing cards at Sutliff with many neighboring farmers and friends. Claude also enjoyed going to Las Vegas with Bev and some close friends.  Later in life, he enjoyed going to some of the local casinos with Bev.  After the love of his life passed away, he continued to go to casinos with his good friend, Richard.

Claude had a real close companion, his boxer, Max.

Claude will be remembered as a person you could always count on, no matter what.  As some would describe, a man of honor.  He was a great son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was very fortunate to have many great neighbors and friends in his life. As Claude said before his passing, “I’ve lived a good life and I am going to the goodland!” A life well lived!
