Tracy and Dave, our hearts break with yours over learning of Bertha’s passing. How we loved her! She was one in a million, and we know that life without her here will bring such a void into your lives. She was so proud of you all. Our love and sympathy.

Tracy and Dave, Sorry for your loss. I got to be reacquainted with Ms. Garner when my son played sophomore basketball for coach Garner. After the game, the players would come into the stands and get concession stand money from their parents. Then there would come coach Garner checking on his mom and asking her if she want anything from the concession stand. She would turn around in the stands and say snacks sure taste good when they are free. All the parents would laugh because we were so jealous. We had a lot of fun at the games. I always admired how much she would cheer for her son the coach as much as we cheered for our player. She will be greatly missed.

My prayers ?? are with your family during the loss of your Beautiful Mother and grandmother. Rip sweetheart

Bertha would always send the best lemon bars for us to serve at Mission of Hope. We would comment how we would set one aside for us. So then she started sending a few bars just for us cooks. Sending prayers of peace and comfort to all of her family. God welcomed a special Angel. Dana Liston

I worked at Square D/Schneider Electric where Bertha worked, but did not get to know her well until she arrived at St Marks. She was a wonderful woman. We saw her at the music program before Christmas. Peace be with you all.

Kind and gracious in demeanor, Bertha always exhibited so much joy in the Lord. I loved singing with her in church choir. And like everyone else, I loved her lemon bars! My sincere condolences to Tracy and family as you mourn one so loved.

Know I was blessed to know this bright, cheerful and fun lady. My day was better if I happened to see Bert around town or sat beside her on a basketball bleacher. Always positive. Sincere sympathy. Ron Pat Gonder

My deepest condolences for your loss! She was a saint and is no doubt heavenly bound. She was deeply loved and was a strong black woman! May she ?? next to Jesus

I am very sorry for your loss. Bertha sounded like a wonderful person. I'm sure you will have so many great memories to look back on.

Garner family, the world now has one less classy, refined, strong, indomitable, unapologetically Black woman. A mother of the highest quality in every sense. The world for you, and many of us, will never be the same. Heaven, however, is rejoicing its newest angel. This hurts. We extend our love and condolences.

Garner family I was so sad to hear about the passing of Ms. Garner. Always so nice and kind every time I saw her. Another Oak Hill mom taken away from us. Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences to you all. May God wrap you up in the wonderful memories of your Mother and Grand-mother.

Bertha will be sorely missed. We know she is singing with God's Angels, but we would rather she be here. Such a lovely, loving friend to all she met. Holding your family in my prayers. Joyce Jones

Our condolences on the loss of a pretty wonderful and dedicated lady. Your mother and grandmother, my aunt, Bertha Garner. May you be comforted by the grace and peace that comes from a relationship with our Lord God in heaven. I wish we could be there with you to honor her memory. However, Deborah and I join you in your grief and sorrow during this time of loss.

Bertha was a marvel of faith. It was a privilege to have known her, and shared time with her in choir. An authentic, devoted woman of God who patiently and diligently shined her light. She will be greatly missed. God's comfort to you all.
