Byron Russel Morehead, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday November 25, 2022, in The Villages of Marion. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 am until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Monica (Gary) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a son, Russ (Beverly) Morehead of Overland Park, Kansas, 5 grandchildren, Romy Brown, Mia Schroeder, Adam Morehead, Jake Schroeder,

Mark Schroeder, and 6 great grandchildren, Caitlin Schroeder, Addison Schroeder, Audrey Morehead, Celeste Morehead, Isaac Brown and Raelee Schroeder, and a sister, Mary Squires of Monticello, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Audrey Morehead, 3 brothers, William, John and Richard Morehead, and a sister Rose Davis.

Byron was born November 10, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Victor and Gertrude (Kimball) Morehead. He married Audrey J. Ballou on November 27, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Byron was a machinist for Rockwell Collins. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Yorktown.
