Dennis Lee Meier,75, of Marengo, Iowa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30th, 2022. He passed away at the VA Hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022, 2:00pm, at the Victor Baptist Church. A fellowship with refreshments will also take place August 6, 2022, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.; in the Victor Baptist Gathering and Reception area. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Dennis was born on December 11, 1946, in Davenport, Iowa. The son of Leonard and Helen (Reese) Meier. He Graduated in 1965 from North Scott High School, joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was united in marriage to Glenda Louise Shelton on March 26, 1968.

Dennis was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. He exemplified the love of Christ in every area of his life and led his family to do the same. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved singing along to his favorite gospel music. 

Dennis was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam war as a jet mechanic on the A-4 Skyhawk in VA-15 attack squadron. He loved working with his hands and had a desire for learning. Dennis had several career changes after his time in the military. He managed a restaurant, worked with his brother Mel at Meier Feed and Fertilizer for 9 years, Sullivan Graphics for 13 years in maintenance while also starting his own business the Meier Lawn Service. Dennis then worked for the Iowa County Assessor for 9 Years and Cedar Rapids Assessor for 8 Years before retiring at 68 in 2014. After retiring, Dennis and his wife traveled south in the winter months and loved spending time with his family working on projects with his sons.

Dennis is survived by his wife Glenda, son Jason (Mary Lou) Meier, son Jeff (Gwen) Meier, grandson Zachary Meier, granddaughter Alexandra “Lexi” Meier, sister-in law Janice (Melvin) Meier, brother-in law Clifford (Mardelle) Danielsen. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Helen, brothers Allan and Melvin Meier, and sisters Nelda Weih and Mardelle Danielsen.
