June Ella (Nelson) Jones passed away on January 21, 2022, at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.  She was 90.

June was born 1931 in Brady, Nebraska, the daughter of Nora Frances (Waltermire) Nelson and Henry Nelson.  June attended school in Brady and College View School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and earned her High School Equivalency Certificate from the state of Iowa in 1971.  She married Donald (Sam) Elroy Jones on July 26, 1952 in Lincoln, and the family lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1964, where June worked for Cherry-Burrell, Collins Radio, and Jones Parking Company before retiring.  June enjoyed gardening, cooking, and garage sales.

June is survived by her sister Della Frances Gloe; three sons Donald (Cindy) Jones, Thomas (Marie) Jones, and Steven (Lisa) Jones; five grandchildren Michael (Mistie), Christina, Abby, Allison (Brent), and Katie (Jayden); and five great-grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Shelby, Lucy and Carter.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Dale H. Nelson.

A private interment was held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cedar Rapids on January 27. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Berger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home on Tuesday.
