Memorial
Sandra M. (Morris) Urban, age 69, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandra was born on June 27, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Scolaro) Morris. Al & Mary were the first to be married at All Saints, where Sandy eventually taught CCD classes. Sandy was very active in the church and took great pride in her Catholic faith. After graduating from Regis, she worked at Cryovac for 27 years.
On September 10, 1988, Sandra married the love of her life, Kevin Urban, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Sandra always enjoyed being the “Life of the Party” and was a wonderful hostess. She was spunky, and a unique, one-of-a-kind person. She was someone you would never forget; lovely, charming, quick-witted, and always with a smile on her face. She was selfless and made everyone feel important – no matter what their station in life. She was thoughtful, creative, and anyone who met her would never forget the sparkle in her eyes or her beautiful smile. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, home decorating, watching the Price is Right, soap operas and driving sports cars fast with Kevin (SCCA). Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she always made it special for everyone – insisting that we call her “Sandy Claus,” and always making sure Santa stopped by on Christmas Eve. We will cherish those memories forever. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will miss her immensely.
Those left to cherish Sandra’s memory are her husband, Kevin, of Cedar Rapids; her children, Ryan (Ginny) and Olivia Urban, both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Carter, Zayne, Kora, and Violet; her siblings, Matt Morris, Chris (Dan) Kolsrud, both of Cedar Rapids, IA and Ann (Dan) Quade, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; many nieces and nephews; and her two cats, Rocky and Sunny. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, and her cats: Mouser, Si, Elvis, Louise, Moses, and Buster.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a Humane Society (donor’s choice), the Catherine McAuley Center, or Waypoint.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30 from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at All Saints Catholic Church, on Wednesday, August 31, at 10 AM, with Rev. John R. Flaherty presiding. Entombment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. No need to wear black! Please wear something colorful – like Sandy’s personality!
