Ernest Buresh

Born in Western, IA
Born on Oct 28, 1926
Departed on Apr 24, 2022

Ernie was one of the good guys. I had such respect for him and considered him a friend. He was instrumental in the building of the Springville Memorial Library, we would have never been able to build that without his enormous help in more ways than I can say. He will be missed. What a wonderful life he had and he touched so many people along the way.

Ernie was a beloved friend to my dad, Harry Suchomel. I felt like I knew Ernie myself by listening to Dad talking about their friendship and years together. His voice and personality comes through his book, celebrating life and pure happiness in his heart. I hope he and Dad are meeting in heaven now.

Wendy and family ... Sending thoughts and prayers for all who loved him ... understanding how difficult and life-defining this is.

I am sorry to hear of Earnie’s passing. He was such a caring person to my Mother, Helen. She worked at the bank in Anamosa for many years. He and Joanne took the time to visit her when she had just turned 90 which was about four years ago. She passed away last fall. On the morning her obituary was published in the paper he called me, before 8 AM, to express his sorrow of her passing. He took the time to call me which tells me a lot about his character and caring for a person who worked for him many years ago. The entire Eastern Iowa area lost a very generous and kind soul.

I came to consider Ernie a friend in the later years of his life. As a fellow banker we had some great conversations. I come to understand how many lives Ernie touched. He was a great man and his contributions many. Job well done Ernest Buresh!

Ernie didn't just live a "good life." He lived an "amazing" life leading by example of how we should all strive to live. Family, Community, Leadership, and an example of what hard work, determination, and that Iowa stubborn can accomplish. Ernie will be missed, but his legacy will live on. His 95 years were a gift to all of us.

Joanne and family - So sorry to hear of Ernie’s passing. Thank you for sharing this incredible human being with us over the years. Enjoyed our dinners together, Hawkeye games and especially allowing Bill to live at Hilltop seemingly “forever”! Unfortunately, we are out of town this week. Peace, prayers and love. Bill & Tristan

Our very sincerest sympathies on your loss of such a wonderful man. Much love, and many thoughts and prayers are certainly with you all. Mike enjoyed working on Ernie's brick driveway, and he was always right there, with his overalls on, to lend a hand. He will definitely be missed by many. May he rest in peace forever.

Joanne, Wendy and family. Ernie and Joanne have been so very special to me since 2008. I am so lucky to have learned so much from Ernie. I will miss him and our daily talks. He will always remain special to me. May all the memories give you comfort. I am sure Sandy and Mattie were there to greet him into heaven.

Ernie was a nice man. He dedicated the Lester Buresh rec center to Mount Vernon High School in honor of his brother. I would have come to pay my respects to the family, however, I have gout and cannot get there. Prayers to you all.

Joanne, we are so sorry for your loss. We were surprised by the rather quick deterioration in Ernie's health. For a number of reasons, we will not be able to attend the visitation or services, but we will have him in our prayers. I will miss greatly the bridge games he was a part of with the guys over the last several years. He hated to lose and always reminded us of what he was taught - "you can't win if you don't bid".

I have fond memories of Ernie. In business he shared a wealth of experience and earnestly assisted my partners and myself. Personally, he was always kind, respectful, and reliable, and I enjoyed his jovial nature.

Thinking of you with heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Father. Miss our chats when Mom and I came to see you. To one Anamosa girl from another.

I join with family and friends in celebrating Ernie's life. I knew him in many ways and always considered it a privilege to be able to visit with him. I appreciated his book and the insights it provided on his background and character. Ernie was a good man and Mason. He was loyal to his friends and always cared for his family. He lived a long and productive life. The fitting conclusiion this life for him is simple. He left each place better than he found it. God Bless you all. William C. Jacobson Fellow Mason, Fellow resident of Cottage Grove Place and Friend.

Ernie was my friend, banker, and mentor for over 45 years. We shared many thoughts and ideas. His sage advice and guidance is the reason for my personal and business successes. Ernie helped so many people in so many ways that it often goes unrecognized. He was a true inspiration. I already miss him and our nearly weekly phone discussions. My thoughts are with you Joanne.

Joanne. I know how much Babe and Jo cherished your friendship and I think it would be safe to say that Anamosa has been very good to all of you. The card games and bank business just worked to make Anamosa a delightful place to grow and raise a family. We should all be so lucky. My thoughts are with You, Wendy and the entire family.

Joanne and Wendy, Scott and I would like to extend our condolences to you both. Ernie was such a special man. He made many visits to Dad after his stroke which Dad thoroughly enjoyed. We are so sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both and your families.

My gosh, we never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Buresh, but we surely wish we had. From all of the really wonderful comments, he must have been a terrific person to know. We have had, however, the good fortune to know Wendy, Kate and Al, and they, too, are fantastic folks. Our prayers and genuine thoughts of love go to the entire family, and especially, to Mrs. Buresh. Hugs from a distance to you all.

Joanne and family, we were so very sorry to hear of Ernie’s passing. Our family truly respected and enjoyed him. We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Joanne and Family--so sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. He was a great favorite of mine. Had not seen him in recent years, unfortunately. Loved his great sense of humor. He passed with a wonderful reputation of being kind and honest. i count myself fortunate that I knew him. Best to you, Joanne.
