I’m at a loss for words sitting here in my kitchen this morning taking in this sad news. I’ll remember Tim’s kindness, which was there when I needed it so many years ago.

Dear Darlene, dear Kristen, dear relatives Tim's sudden death made us sad. Although we did not know him personally, it is a loss in our family that is painful, because we are parents and siblings ourselves and can feel your pain, so we also lack the words that could comfort you.
Nevertheless, we hope that the memories with Tim give you strength to survive the time of mourning. Our thoughts are with you and Tim is in our hearts. In deep compassion .

Those of you who read this will probably have no idea who I am. It’s only in retrospect that I realize with sinking clarity that I didn’t know much about Tim. I didn’t know he was a Hawkeyes fan. I didn’t know he played bass or liked to fish. And it saddens me deeply to know that I will never continue to get to know him. For most of the time I spent with Tim Wood he was...La’la, elven druid of the Circle of the Moon and later, ?r?e?g?u?l?a?r? ?g?u?y? ?R?a?y? ?B?r?o?w?n? Jako Pastorius, changeling rogue and member of the ragtag group of adventurers known as the Everymen.
Tim met with me and the rest of our group every week or three to battle evil wizards, find lost treasure, uncover nefarious plots and travel across fantastical worlds of myth and magic. We played Dungeons and Dragons. And whether we were all gathered around the same table or playing over Zoom during the pandemic, Tim was always a pleasure and a privilege to have with us. I hope that all of his friends and family will understand that Tim loved playing Dungeons and Dragons and we loved playing it with him. Tim and I bonded over our love for the Dungeons and Dragons web series, Critical Role. Your favorite character was Jester Lavorre and mine was Caduceus Clay. We were both eagerly looking forward to the campaign finale. I remember thinking it was strange that when the finale aired just a few days ago that you didn’t have anything to say about it.
I guess fate can be ironically cruel sometimes, Tim. We didn’t even know you had passed. In the two or so years you had played with us, you had never missed a game. We all gathered on Zoom to play and waited for an hour for you to join us. You didn’t. It was only after I checked your facebook that I learned you had passed. It felt like a cruel joke. We couldn’t even pay our respects at the memorial service.
We will miss you, Tim. We will miss your humor and intelligence, your wit and your banter. All the fun adventures, all the thrilling intrigue and inside jokes and mysterious backstories will pale without you there to share them with.
Godspeed, Tim. You are missed.
