William J Donohue (Bill), age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from Alzheimer’s disease.
Bill was born July 12, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa to Robert and Florence Donohue.
Bill graduated from Franklin High School and attended Coe College and spent his school and work years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bill worked for Collins Radio/Rockwell Collins for 38 years, retiring in 1995. In 2003, Bill and his wife, Carole, moved to Surprise, Arizona where they enjoyed the warm weather and the abundant sunshine. In 2015, they moved to Springfield, Missouri.
Bill loved boating on the Mississippi River and spending time traveling the United States in his 3 motorhomes for over 142,000 miles. He was very involved with his family and active in the booster club when his children were in high school and enjoyed watching his kids play sports. His lifetime passion was cars. He owned 58 cars over his lifetime and loved to work on them, race them, attend car shows and watch races.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L and Florence M Donohue. He is survived by his wife, Carole, sister Bernice Kenkel of Scottsdale, Arizona and his children Scott Donohue (Tracy), Michael Donohue (Jeanie), Anne Zenisek (Paul) and Jennifer Dixon (Brian). Along with his grandchildren, Jessica Donohue, Ally Donohue, Megan Anderegg, Laney Donohue, Annelise Stark, Brianne Werner and Bryce Dixon plus great granddaughter, Everleigh Stark. Many thanks to Good Shepherd Hospice for their tremendous support and care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help fight Alzheimer’s.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home, 2183 W. Arlington Street, Springfield, Missouri from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
