Memorial

Gary Dean Griffith, 72, of Solon, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021. A private graveside committal took place on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A public celebration honoring Gary’s life will be held at a later date. 

Gary was born on July 16, 1949 in Monticello, IA; the son of Dale and Arlene (Lubben) Griffith. Gary was united in marriage to Nancy Kulhavy on October 11, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. Gary was a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion. 

Gary enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Nancy. He was kind, generous, and fun person who will be greatly missed.

Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Bryan (Dawn) Griffith of Cedar Rapids, Todd (Ann) Griffith of Center Point, Jason Widdel of Cedar Rapids, Joel (Tara) Widdel of Marion, Justin (Shawna) Widdel of Robins, and Kristin Widdel of Cedar Rapids; 4 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Deanna (Mike) Kroemer; and brothers, Scott Griffith and Jack (Barb) Griffith.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
