Darla Zigler lost her long and courageous battle with cancer August 21, 2020 at the age of 80.
Darla is survived by her children Holly (Damon) Meyer and Tracy (Steve) Calkins; sister Georgann (David) Cook; grandchildren Hallie (Mitch) LeMaster, Sydney Hanson, Grant Calkins, Cassandra Calkins and Cameron Calkins. And, great grandchildren; Elijah and Lorenzo LeMaster. Extended family Beth Metzger and grandchildren in love; Chelsea and Brittney Kranenbuhl, Zac Berndt and Travis and Gabbie Meyer.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Dixie Kelly, her husband Keith Alan Zigler and her significant other Richard Dana Hagerty.
Darla was a loving mother and grandmother, she had a love for life that was unmatched and, her family meant the world to her. Darla loved drives through the Iowa countryside and finding new restaurants to try, live music, dancing and all of the wonderful festivals in the corridor, which she would attend with her children and grandchildren.
Darla was an active member of SaPaDaPaSo (Saint Patrick's Day Parade Society) and Jefferson Alumni.
Darla was born at home to George and Garneta Clark on April 01, 1940; she was joined in marriage to Keith Alan Zigler June 02, 1962. Darla and Alan raised two daughters Holly and Tracy. Darla resided in southwest Florida from 1987-2004 before returning "home" to Cedar Rapids.
A special thank you to the care that she received from The University of Iowa and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center. A special thank you to the Dennis & Donna Hospice House, due to the wonderful care of Hospice we were able to honor her final wish of being at home.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial on Friday, August 28th 4:30-7:00pm.
