Memorial

Mary Louise Frederikson, 100, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2015.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11am at the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park.  Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2015 from 9-11am at the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park.  Burial will take place at a later time at Cedar Memorial Park. 

Mary was born on October 31, 1915, in Woodland, IA to John and Mary (Berstler) Thornton.  She graduated from Old Washington High School in 1933.  Mary was united in marriage to John Frederikson on September 15, 1940 in Kehoka, Missouri.  She worked at Woolworth Dime store until World War II, she then worked at Collins during the war.  During the 60’s Mary worked at Kiecks.  She was also typed a manuscript for a Rabbi here in Cedar Rapids. She also worked for State Farm insurance company for a short time along with the Health Department.  After she retired she took up painting and painted floral and scenic pictures, she was a very talented artist.

Mary is survived by her son, Chris Frederikson of Cedar Rapids, a sister-in-law in the Twin Cities, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John, her parents, her brother Rolla Thornton and sister Lena Standard.
