I have been blessed to have two very special people in my life, that I will forever cherish, and miss more than words can convey, Lois is one of them , along with Raymond Westrom. They will both live forever in my heart. I will miss our long conversations, about everything and nothing. Lois was not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. she had such a sense of humor, and could wrap you up in her stories, so you almost felt like you were there. I know that right now she is watching over us all, dressed to the nines and whispering to us that she is fine, to take care until she sees us again. Lois, I look forward to that.......... Rick

A very special lady, who captured the hearts of everyone who was lucky to know her. In my mind's eye she is now free from pain, with the love of her life beside her, as he looks on with adoration. She made me giggle as she and Rick would banter back and forth, and I know that he has a hole in his heart with her passing as there surely must be for those closest to her, Molly and Ron.

The memories of our long conversations bring a smile to my heart even though there is a tear in my eyes. I will miss our birthday lunches but am so glad you are not in pain and now with those you love that passed before you. Enjoy that cocktail with Frank, Dean and Glen. It will be just like Palm Springs all over again.

Lois was my babysitter and also was a guest at our wedding 49 years ago. I was alway so excited to see her in pillow talk and commercials. Our parents were great friends Judge Clinton Shaeffer and Gladys Shaeffer. So sorry to hear of her death. I did not realize she had returned to live in Cedar Rapids. I wish I had known.

Sending our deepest sympathy to all of Lois's family and friends. My father, and Lois's father grew up together...and remained close friends their entire lives. ...more like "brothers"...( Joe and Ruth Miller)..
Lois was a real "firecracker" .. an "amazing" person..... she .always lit everything up with her bubbly, vibrant, personality and humor!
She loved children and always asked me how our children and grandchildren were doing.
We regret that we did not know she was ill....May she rest in peace .

Oh, kid! Lois was my neighbor and such a sweet, kind person. If you had all day, she would share story after story of her incredible wonder years. She was exuberant and happy. I will forever cherish my memories of Lois. Until we meet again, lovely Lois!

Lois and I have been very close friends for many years. Since the days long ago when our fathers worked together at Cherry-Burrell and Lois was starring as the "White Rain" girl in the commercials, it has been a joy to know her. After returning home from her star-studded years, we have had tons of fun playing golf, skiing, taking auto daytrips with our late Moms, decorating her house, and sharing heartfelt conversations over lunch or coffee. I shall always remember her walking her dog, Mikey, over to visit me at Grant Wood School, where we inducted him into our school's safety patrol as our official mascot -- complete with a badge and school T-shirt. She was always close to my pets, including my Pug named Duggie. She was his "Aunt Lois," and they both enjoyed 'talking' together over the phone. Also in the recent years we enjoyed being in a book club together, and I finally achieved a longtime goal of mine, which was teaching her to play bridge this past year and having her participate in the St. Luke's Auxiliary marathon. I just know that she is now making lots of "7 no-trump" bids in Heaven! What a nice friendship we enjoyed, and I am thankful for the many memories of all those fun times!

Lois was a cousin to Jim. They knew each other when they were kids, but when Lois grew up she moved away to be a stewardess and a movie star. When she came back to Iowa we would talk on the phone for hours. She was a beautiful lady and we will miss her. Our sympathy to her family and friends.

Lois was our one of our Irish Dames. She and Jane Regan would come to our St Patrick's parties and what fun that was. They were dressed in green and had the Irish spirit. I always enjoyed the look and excitement that guests had listening to Lois's stories. Lois you were a beautiful woman who was full in life and love. We are so honored to know you! We will toast you tonight and every March 17th knowing you are with us in spirit. Loved the beautiful picture. We will look for you in Pillow Talk. Bless you! Our sympathies to all of your family and friends especially to Jane. The O'Connell family. ??

I was shocked to see Lois in the obituaries. I had not realized she was ill. I would have visited if I had. I met Lois one day as she and her dog Mikey walked down the alley behind our home in the 1900 block of Bever Ave. S.E.. She walked there at least once a day as she lived so near. I so enjoyed talking with her and hearing her wonderful stories. I also enjoyed meeting and chatting with her Mom many times in their home. Lois was a stunning beauty both inside and out. Sorry that I had not seen her in a number of years, but she was a wonderful person. Farewell my friend and hope we will all meet again. RIP Lois.

I have thought about Lois so many times over the years, and had a dream about her last night. When I was a young man I published a biweekly newspaper in Cedar Rapids and did a profile story on Lois. That's how we got acquainted. I soon developed quite a crush on her! She was absolutely gorgeous...much more so than in the photos posted here. She was also a kind and sweet woman with a sparkling personality. Even though I was much younger than she, we hung out one summer and I remember her driving us around in her white Lincoln convertible! I also vividly recall sitting on the sofa in her parents' home and having long talks with her about life, while the sun streamed through the big picture window. She just glowed. It is an image I'll always remember. The den in her parents' home was filled with photos of Lois and various stars. She also was honored in a parade at Vinton, Iowa where she rode in a car and waved to the people. Quite the celeb (!) with many stories of Hollywood. She also appeared in the iconic White Rain hair shampoo TV commercial. As so often happens, we fall out of touch with people who are dear to us. I Googled her several years ago and thought I read she had moved to Wisconsin. Had I known she was still in CR in recent years, I would have made a point to contact her. She was a beautiful blonde who radiated sunshine...an unforgettable person in my life. I am so sad to hear of her passing.

I knew Lois from her days in Beverly Hills, when she was in her thirties and good friends with my next door neighbor (and surrogate mom) Peggy Laird. I was in high school and much taken with Lois, who was doing print ads at the time.
Sorry to learn of her passing..she was a real presence.
