David G. Clark, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died after a brief battle with cancer at the Hospice House of Mercy, Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by Pastor Richard Ernst and Pastor Kirk Statler of Hillside Wesleyan Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.Survivors include his wife, Karla; children, Beth (Greg) Glimco of Darien, Illinois, Amy (Dave) Dighton of Center Point, and Jeff (Tracy) Clark of Ely; grandchildren, Joey and Nick Dighton, Danielle and Colin Clark, and Jack, Kelly and Kerry Glimco; brothers-in-law, Robert (Jani) Parcell of Winfield and Russ (Jan) Parcell of Sigourney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.Dave was born November 20, 1939 in Cedar Rapids to Harry and Martha Clark. He married Karla Parcell in West Chester on May 11, 1963. Dave enlisted in 1962 and served over 39 years in the United States Army Reserves, retiring as a Warrant Officer 4. The same year he enlisted, he began his career with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1988. After his retirement he worked for Hawkeye Fire and Safety in Iowa City, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, bowling and experiencing different restaurants. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Mercy Medical Center, Zone 91, the Mercy Home Health Care and the angels at the Hospice House of Mercy.
